ISTQB® Certified Tester, Advanced Level:
GTB announces refresher courses for the new syllabus

The German Testing Board (GTB) e.V. has launched refresher courses for the ISTQB® Certified Tester Advanced Level. These provide an upgrade to the new syllabus introduced for the internationally leading tester training scheme. The one-day training courses are aimed at all certified testers who have completed an Advanced Level training course and successfully passed their examination on the basis of the now superseded Advanced Level syllabus. The corresponding certificate will be a prerequisite for attending the new refresher course.

The refresher courses provide an overview of the up-dated and newly introduced course contents. At the end of the upgrade seminars, all participants receive a certificate of participation; their existing Certified Tester Certificate will in any case continue to remain valid.

„The refresher courses are aimed at all Certified Testers with Advanced Level certificates who want to keep themselves informed“, justifies Chairman Tilo Linz the latest initiative of the German Testing Board. „With much additional and especially practice-oriented contents, the new Advanced Level syllabus has made significant progress.“ It is the intention of the GTB to make this know-how available to as many software and test experts as possible through measures such as the refresher courses. With the new seminars, the GTB also fulfills the demands for so-called “lifelong learning” as defined for instance in ISO 17024.

Those interested in refresher courses may contact one of the training providers authorised by the GTB for the new Advanced Level syllabus. It is up to the individual training providers whether they include the refresher courses in their portfolio, or whether they decide to concentrate on the standard Certied-Tester training seminars.

The refresher courses will be held by course lecturers who also teach the regular Advanced Level seminars. Initially, it is planned to limit the phase of the refresher courses to the end of 2010, and it will be decided next year whether there will be an extension or not.
