The German Testing Board (GTB) has appointed two additional certification authorities for holding Certified Tester exams in Germany. As of now, the „gasq“ association is also allowed to examine candidates and to award the Certified Tester certificate which is recognized worldwide. This increases the number of certification authorities in Germany that are recognized by the German Testing Board e.V. to three. Also newly authorized is the Cert-IT GmbH, which has taken over the certification task from its parent company DLGI GmbH as of 1st October 2011. A new contract has been issued to iSQI GmbH. All three certification authorities obtain the right to hold both paper-based and electronic exams.  

„We are extremely pleased about the newly awarded and the re-awarded authorizations. All contract partners offer excellent services, and with the additional certification authorities we achieve an even better coverage of Germany. In addition, electronic exams are now available everywhere. In future, every course participant will find a first-class exam service provider in the vicinity“, says Tilo Linz, Chairman of the GTB. In future this will also satisfy the ever increasing demand for the Certified Tester in the best possible way, Linz continues. According to Linz, there are currently 4,100 exam candidates per year, with the upward trend continuing.

The organization was founded by the developers of the „IT Weiterbildungssystem“ promoted by the BMBF - as the world’s first personnel qualification authority for IT specialists.  The founding members are trade associations, such as BITKOM and ZVEI, the German trade unions IG Metall and ver.di, as well as the scientific organizations Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. and the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft.

The founding members of gasq come from Europe, America and Asia; the association supports further education and certifications worldwide, e.g. for software testers, requirements engineering experts and usability experts.
