Anke Löwer

Dr. Uwe HehnAnke Löwer came into contact with software testing at an early stage: The subject course „Software reliability“ at the Fulda University of Applied Sciences and a committed professor, who taught methods in step with actual practice, aroused her interest. Today, she works as a consultant for the IT-consultancy „corporate quality consulting GmbH”, and gives training courses herself on the subject of software testing. As a trainer for the ISTQB® Foundation Level she contributes to the things which fascinated her most during her study of computer sciences: to teach the course contents in a way that course participants can directly apply in their everyday work.

To combine theory and practice even more, is therefore Anke Löwer’s motivation behind her involvement with the GTB. Through her activities as course lecturer and from her long years of work experience, she knows both worlds very well. Even at the very start of her career as software developer for a bank, she tested electronic funds transfer software for vulnerabilities. Over several years, she deepened her knowledge as a leader of test teams on subjects such as the Y2K and Euro conversions, or as leader of a team for development methods and techniques, which was also responsible for the test techniques. With this continuous specialization she developed a growing desire to „participate and help to shape the world of testing” as Löwer put it. She perceives the GTB as the ideal platform for this.

In her position as deputy lead of the GTB’s Technical Advisory Group (TAG), she works on important topics. „Spreading and implementing test standards“ is the motto that Anke Löwer has chosen for her profession as consultant and for her involvement in the GTB. To this end, she brings training providers and GTB together at one table at the Technical Advisory Group, in order to raise awareness of the tester training, to give feedback, and to firmly entrench it in everyday work.

Since her days of graduating with a master degree in computer sciences at the Fulda University of Applied Sciences, her fascination for testing has been unbroken: „Testing for me is simply fun, and I find it absolutely makes sense.“
